ALEXANDER GORDON

Mr. Gordon is a 1972 graduate of Tufts University and received his J.D. from the University of Virginia, School of Law in 1982.  Prior to attending law school Mr. Gordon was employed by three different members of the New York State delegation to the U.S. House of Representatives, and worked as a public information officer with the U.S. Copyright Office.  Since his graduation from law school Mr. Gordon has spent approximately twelve years as a prosecutor with the District Attorney's Office in Portland, Oregon and approximately twelve years as a civil litigator, primarily in the area of insurance defense.  As a prosecutor Mr. Gordon prosecuted capital murder cases, sexual offenses and narcotics crimes.  Mr. Gordon developed a speciality in search and seizure law and evidentiary issues relating to confessions and the presentation of  expert witnesses.  As a civil litigator Mr. Gordon has defended civil rights actions, products liability cases and personal injury cases.   Mr. Gordon has taught trial advocacy and evidence to various police and  prosecutorial groups, as well as serving as a trial advocacy instructor  for The St. Paul Insurance Company.  In addition, Mr. Gordon has  served as a member of the faculty at the University of Virginia Trial Advocacy  Institute for ten years.
